I was very disappointed about my experience at Rainbow cafe. I was excited about going and left less than happy. First, the grass-fed burger seems as though it's a frozen party and it's no thicker than a 99 cent fast food burger. It had a "film" on it from the fryer that I had to scrape off the burger and bun with a knife. I received about 10 thin cut fries. I had vegetable beef soup that amounted to nothing more than broth. Finally, my beer was outdated since May! Left after paying a fifty dollar check and will have to think about whether I will give it another chance.

I absolutely love the rainbow cafe! The staff is wonderful, the food is even better! I love that they use organic grass fed meats and all their produce is fresh! I also love that they had started using CPTG essential oils in their food to add more flavor and extra benefits! It's a place I always recommend and will continue to enjoy! :)

The flavors are so delish it is easy to forget that the food is some of the highest quality money can buy. One thing is apparent, you can literally feel the life in the food. great service, clean restaurant.. The lamb gyro is the best I have ever eaten. hands down my favorite.

Absolute gem of a find in this small town. The menu has such a great variety. If you are from the Twin Cities you will get this, it is a place you would expect to be in Uptown. Very casual but a very unique variety in the way of food. She does this pickling of grapes that blew our minds. We ordered the cheese plate with a choice of two cheese's and it was fantastic. I had a chicken sandwich that was so DE LISH! My salad had a cinnamon vinaigrette, that was to die for! The beef is grass fed, my In-Laws loved that and my hubby had a pork with blueberry sandwich. He and the In-Laws LOVED the vegetable soup with bacon. We are looking at buying a building there, this will be our go to for sure. The owner was attentive, we chatted for quite a while. The waitress was adorable. Very cute personality. She does a lot of innovative things in the way of how she grows her veggies and buys local We will go back for sure

Very expensive for small town restaurant , food is good, but oh boy $11 for glass of wine in pine island ???? Also the portion is small for the price they charge. I probably won't go back again.

This is a high end restaurant with lower prices. The couple that owns the place are both culinary genius. I have never had a bad meal or bad service. I also know they have won numerous awards for the best chilly contests in Rochester.

Great little restaurant in Pine Island. My wife and I went for a mid-Saturday lunch date. Great food and service. The cheesecake was not my favorite, though (I love cheesecake and had high expectations). We will be coming back for sure.

Went there for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised! Prompt and friendly service. The food was somewhat upscale and great. Restaurant was clean and well designed. I think I may have found a hidden gem! You should definitely check it out if you're in town!

My wife and I sat down and waited about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. We were finally approached with water and not offered any other options for drinks. The food tasted good. Portions were pretty small for the price. When we were finished we waited another 20 minutes while the waitress and owner spent their time talking to a regular the whole time. Very poor service!

Food: (Grass-Fed) Braised Beef Penne w/ salad Dessert: Fourless Chocolate Torte & Bourbon Chocolate Ancho Chile Ice Cream Superb food, not drowning in sugar or mystery sauces. Your standard cake delivers a shotgun blast of a sugar high, not so here. Friendly servers, readily accessible owners (the co-owners are pastry chef and exec chef(?)). Home-made balsamic vinagarette to die for: Not overly acidic like actual vinegar, and well-complemented with ground herbs. A little far from my usual grounds, but I would definitely recommend the food, especially for the Rochester set.

We have been trying to get here for at least a year on several friend's recommendations, and thank goodness we were finally able to make it. The atmosphere inside is warm and relaxed. The owner is gracious and really sweet (we had our almost two year old along at the end of a long day for him, so he was a little louder and shorter tempered than usual, but she went out of her way to make sure we knew it was all okay.). And most importantly the food was a-mazing! I had one of the best Reuben sandwiches I have had in years, the fries were cooked to perfection, the soup of the day-a creamy caramelized onion-was heavenly, there were also interesting options for the vegetarians in our party and a killer wine selection. Oh and desserts, interesting flavor combos all expertly prepared. I wish our life allowed for more meals here!

The food was excellent! I had the beef short ribs over polenta and it was incredibly flavorful and moist. My friends had the chicken with curry potatoes and the chipotle pasta, both of which were also good. We also tried the cheese plate which was the only thing that wasn't as impressive (too little cheese, awkward presentation). The service was a little bit slow (only two servers for the whole restaurant) but they were incredibly nice and apologetic for the delay. Would definitely go back!

This place just blew my mind. I was driving to Plainview, MN for work and was looking for a lunch on the way there. Found Rainbow Cafe on Yelp, and thought I'd give it a try. When you roll into a typical rural Midwestern restaurant on Main St. you don't exactly think of the words "organic" "grass fed" "artisinal". I wish I could've ordered the whole menu, and just stayed there all day. The food was incredible, the server (also owner) was so nice and hospitable. I hope to make this place a regular visit. Thank you Rainbow!!

I took my son to Rainbow Cafe for lunch today. I had the grass-fed burger and he a free-range chicken sandwhich. We followed up with dessert. I really enjoyed the friendly, casual service. The food, itself, was pretty good and the portions reasonably-sized, i.e. right-sized. I think they focus on quality ingredients and preparation as opposed making up for poor quality with volume. I appreciate that. I also value small town, locally owned enterprises more than franchises. I think the owners and staff really care about what they do. I will return.

Leave Rochester. I don't know why you were there, but you were. That's fine. I end up there sometimes by accident as well. Pine Island is basically a suburb anyway. Drive there (or take the Douglas Trail on your bicycle if you are feeling particularly motivated). Rainbow Cafe makes the tiny little trip completely worthwhile. This is not your dodgy little truck-stop diner - real chefs, real food, everything made from scratch. I was there over the lunch hour and had a wonderful cream of mushroom soup with big, crusty croutons and a chicken salad melt on marble rye. Both were prepared perfectly, nicely seasoned, just real honest food. I had coffee as well, and the bill was eleven dollars. Awesome. Next time, I'm saving room for the lengthy list of desserts, which are all prepared in-house. My server was pleasant and chatty, the space is pretty modern for small-town MN, and they wisely kept the lunch counter in the back, with the round swiveling stools. Perfect place to have a nice lunch and BS session - or get a table and have a cozy dinner. I drive down Hwy 52 more often than I'd like to admit, and I'll be stopping here again very soon.

There is a huge disconnect between what this place is trying to be and actually is. Farm-to-table restaurants with higher prices are also usually known for service. The service here was horrible and the inexperienced staff tried to use fine print on the menu weasel their way out of a kitchen error while still getting it wrong. We never got drinks as part of the kids meal and then they wanted to charge for the 7 french fries that were consumed on the botched order. There is potential here but are too many people trying to to good to ever come back to this place.

Very friendly staff. Delicious food. Extensive and interesting wine list with complimentary tasting before purchase. I love that they use locally grown, grass-fed, organic foods! Living only a mike away, I think Rainbow cafe is going to become my second home!
